Jen & Ben
Oh. I do love the wedding I am about to share with you, so so much! Earlier this summer I joined the lovely Jen and Ben in Bretagne, France to celebrate and capture their day for them. Jen, Ben and their wonderful families welcomed me into their homes with such warmth, I felt like I had known them all for years!
Where I was staying was right next to the church and I have to say, as I drove down the little country road to get there, I got the craziest case of butterflies in my tummy ever! As I got nearer, I saw the cutest little chapel, La Chapelle de Lannéven, surrounded by French countryside, donkeys and hay bales and I was smitten. I soon learned that much of the land around was in fact Ben’s Dad’s and the hay bales rolled and left in the field especially. The church was in fact the same church that Ben’s parents were married in and their family home just up the road. Immediately I could see all the love that had gone into creating Jen and Ben’s day. From the church arch that Jen’s Mum,Sue had made, the neighbours beautiful manicured garden ready for their reception drinks to the fields that had grown the Cosmos (my favourite flowers!) for the day. It was all so perfect and so personal.
The morning of the wedding dawned and we were greeted with brilliant sunshine and heat. Lots of heat! I remember seeing that temperatures soared over 30 degrees that day and it was just wonderful as sunshine always means so many more smiles!
Jen got ready in the nearby town of Guingamp with her mum and best friend. She looked utterly gorgeous and was so super happy and smiley! Her dress, made of French lace and silk, was custom made for her by French designer Tara Deva and was utterly beautiful. Ben looked so handsome in his custom made, brown suit… also by Tara Deva and as he waited nervously for his bride at the church, I was struck by how calm he seemed despite the nerves and realised it had so much to do with how amazing his loving and big family were, supporting each other and giving out lots of hugs.
The venue Jen and Ben held their reception blew me away. They chose Manoir de la Noë Verte and it was such a treat. A beautiful old French Manoir that oozed beautiful Bretagne charm. Despite its amazing grandeur it was one of the most welcoming venues I have experienced and the food was just incredible! I love French weddings for their personality and find them so much fun. All through the meal and evening reception, guests would encourage games, music and speeches, slideshows and more. Jen and Ben’s wedding was no exception and as a guest, when you get such a chance to interact with everyone through these, you feel as though you have truly been a part of their day. Fun and family was paramount at Jen and Ben’s wedding and it was one of the most beautiful days I have had the pleasure to witness.
Jen and Ben, thank you. For so much. For all your support and friendship and for allowing me to be a part of your beautiful wedding. I cannot wait to come and visit you soon! x
