There are many parts of a couples wedding that I get to experience and whilst my images can a story, one thing they cannot do is share with you the incredible smells that waft through a day… from the florals to the food.
It will be the smell of lavender that will forever take me back to Mary and Williams day. From the lavender and mint in the flower arrangements in church, to the lavender the flower girls handed out to guests as they walked down the aisle. The lavender that was thrown and Mary and William as they left the church right to the amazing lavender candles that were burning throughout the reception. I am so sure that there must be experts out there who can help you create a story through scents for your day and if this is something you would consider, I beg you to do so. Weddings nurture all of our senses and scent is one way for you to be transported back to your day in a heartbeat.
Mary and William were married at the amazing Daylesford Organic Farm deep in the Cotswolds. A stunning location for a wedding, theirs was the first ever wedding Daylesford have done! Their day started beautifully and calmly, not least because they had chosen a later afternoon ceremony which left plenty of time for getting ready and a sense of calm remained through their whole beautiful day.
Mary looked utterly breathtaking wearing her Mum’s wedding dress which I could not believe was over thirty years old. I could not stop looking at it! The detail….the lace….it was so perfect! They were wed as the sun started to set on a beautiful Autumn day and we were so unbelievably lucky with the amazing light we had.
The evening reception was a candlelit affair. Incredibly romantic and cosy, with amazing food catered by Daylesford’s talented chefs. Surrounded by beautiful friends and family it was so wonderful to watch the day unfold and see how incredibly loved these two are. Their wedding felt like the coming together of friends over an intimate meal with a whole lot of chat, bucketfuls of laughter and a good old knees up and party to the end!
It was such a pleasure to work with the lovely wedding planner Jessie Thomson who helped Mary and William create the most beautiful wedding. This lady is a diamond and a dab hand at ringing her bell too!
Mary and William, it was such an honour to be a part of your beautiful day, to meet your wonderful families and to be there to capture the story of your marriage. I wish you both every love and happiness in the world. x
